We asked to meet with Scott and Vicki for marriage counseling by Lexington Baptist Church, Lexington, SC back in 2020. At the time they did not know us, and we did not know them, but we quickly realized they were in our lives for a reason. We met with them over a course of multiple counseling sessions where we learned how to navigate marriage while keeping Christ front and center. Everything we talked about felt relatable and practical and we loved how Scott and Vicki used their own marriage to highlight the most important things. After the second session we knew we wanted Scott to officiate our wedding because he was truly getting to know us as a couple on a personal level and it felt like it made the most sense. Our wedding ceremony was amazing, and Scott could not have done a more perfect job. Weddings can be a stressful time, but Scott led us through the whole ceremony and was able to paint a picture of our relationship while also intertwining the Gospel to all our friends and family. It was a great reminder to us that the day is not just about us - and the most important part of marriage being a Christ centered one. Scott and Vicki really played a key role in our wedding, and we are forever grateful that they entered our lives.
If you're a Christian getting married, finding a pastor who doesn't feel too traditional can be challenging. Scott combines his love for the Lord with his love of comedy & storytelling to make your ceremony feel incredibly profound and personal. My grandad felt so moved by our ceremony that he requested I give him Scott's telephone number so he could tell him how much he loved it. Leading up to the wedding day, we also got to have multiple sessions where Scott and his wife, Vicki, invited us to their home to learn more about us and help us understand some of the life changes that come with marriage. Having Scott officiate our wedding was one of our favorite decisions, and we could not recommend him enough.
Scott and Vicki are absolute marriage role models. They are the perfect balance of opposites and taught us how to understand and value one another’s many differences while appreciating what we love about one another. Each session with them felt like we were talking with family, and we never once hesitated to be as open and honest as possible. The material and friendship we gained from their teachings left us with things to work on as a couple, and we also understand that we have people in our lives who can help no matter what life throws at us.
We did pre-marital counseling with Scott and Vicki and could not have asked for a better experience. It never felt like “counseling,” but more so discussions and advice on marital topics and things they have encountered throughout their marriage. Having Vicki be part of our sessions made me feel more comfortable discussing topics that could become uncomfortable. Scott and Vicki catered our sessions to important topics to Will and me, and they consciously tried to see each of our perspectives throughout our meetings. It was clear that Scott and Vicki tried to understand our relationship during our time together, and we are so thankful to them for helping guide us through this new season of life together.
